Generally, the less barrel a nerf gun has, the farther it shoots. This applies to spampedes, longshots, longstrikes, raiders.... I don't see why it wouldn't also apply to the shotgun. In a normal gun, the barrel gives the bullet spin, stabilizing it and making it go farther and straighter. In a nerf blaster, the extra plastic only creates friction to slow the dart down.
